Arsene Wenger shares his thoughts on Liverpool's poor form so far this season

Premier League legend Arsene Wenger has slammed Darwin Nunes as he insists Liverpool are "missing something" in their ongoing struggle.

Nunez joined Liverpool from Benfica in a club-record fee in the summer transfer window but has only scored one Premier League goal since arriving at that time.

The Reds had to fight back two goals against Brighton on Saturday to draw 3-3. The result leaves them ninth in the top flight after winning just two games all season.

They are already four points behind the Seagulls, the latest team to occupy for the Champions League spot, and 11 points behind leaders
arsenal. This is despite them breaking their transfer record for signing Nunes from Benfica in the summer.

Wenger believes Nunez has yet to make the expected impact at his new club.

Speaking to beIN Sports, the former Arsenal manager said: "For Liverpool, it's difficult to understand. Because they have the same core, the same type of game. They are less efficient in winning the ball back than they were before, they are less vertical as well."

"And certainly, Nunez at the moment hasn't worked out for them. They made a big investment and he's sitting on the bench. They lost Mane who is a top player with top game play.

"He had something. An aggressive attitude and determination in the big games. Will score no matter what happens, and make it happen. It's difficult to measure how much that takes away, but they miss something they had before."
