Owen Hargreaves - Van Dijk will not fix Liverpool

Former Manchester United Midfielder Owen Hargreaves has claimed that Virgil Van Dijk will not fix Liverpool defensive errors

    Lfc rumour
Liverpool have had disappointing ends on their game since the kickoff of the new season.

They begging the Premire League season with a draw to Watford, where they failed to hold on to a 3-2 lead. They also had a floppy performance against Manchester city where the defense was blamed to have conceded five unreplied goals.

Meanwhile on Wednesday night in the Champions League Liverpool  also gave up a 2-1 lead against Spanish side 'Sevilla' to end up in an 2-2 draw.

With Liverpool linked with a move to sign Southampton full back Virgil Van Dijk, ex Manchester United midfielder has claimed that Signing Van Dijk won't help fix the defensive problems and pointed that Jurgen Klopp philosophy makes it difficult for the backline.

He said on BBC Radio Five Live: “It is the philosophy that is the issue [at Liverpool].

“I don’t care if even Baresi, Maldini, all those guys are there.

“If they were playing there as centre-backs, they would want their central midfielder in front of them.

“They would want their full-backs closer to them.

“I would want to play, as a centre-back, where I was protected, where I had people in front of me. Van Dijk is not going to fix Liverpool.

“As good as he is and he’s one of the best and he’ll play for Barcelona or Real Madrid one day in my opinion, he’s that good.

“I don’t care how good you are, you need a bit more protection.”
