Boss explains why it's not all about the 'Fab Four

Jürgen Klopp has no issue with Liverpool's midweek goalscorers being nicknamed the 'Fab Four' – but the manager prefers credit to be shared throughout his squad.

Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah bagged seven goals between them to defeat Spartak Moscow at Anfield on Wednesday and book their team’s place in the Champions League last 16.

The quartet have racked up 46 strikes in total so far this season, leading to widespread praise for the scintillating, clinical football produced so regularly.

But ahead of Sunday’s Merseyside derby clash with Everton on home soil, Klopp sought to highlight the quality of the rest of his attacking contingent too.

Asked if Coutinho, Firmino, Mane and Salah will be used as a combination again, he replied: “I have nothing to say about the line-up from our side.

“Actually, I didn’t decide it so far. We played on Wednesday and we have to wait for sure today and maybe until tomorrow to make a line-up.

“I said it already – I have no problem with nicknames like ‘Fab Four’ but that is disrespectful against all the other players. It is.

“We played a fantastic game at West Ham and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was involved. We didn’t have Adam Lallana so far and I think he would fit fantastically in each group or band in this world.

“Daniel Sturridge, Dom Solanke and all these offensive players… that’s not fair.

“It was [those four] for the last game. [Against Everton], there will be really good offensive players if nothing happens. In which order or whatever, we will see, but it will be good.”
