Philippe Coutinho should have left Anfield says former Liverpool forward Rickie Lambart

Liverpool should have let Philippe Coutinho join Barcelona in the summer, according to former Reds striker Rickie Lambert.

Rickie Lambart was part of Bredan Rodgers Liverpool team that proved unsuccessful 2014/15 Uefa Champions League.

Lambert joined Liverpool from Southampton on a £4.5m fee in 2014 making a total of 36 appearances in all competitions and scoring a total of 3 goals.

"I’m probably gonna get a little bit of stick for this but I think Liverpool should have let him go,” Lambert told Radio 5 Live.

"If he asked to go, I know it was late in the transfer window and I can understand why we kept hold of him.

"But, if he’s made the effort to come out and say he wants to go, [after] everything that he’s done for the club, I thought he would have been allowed to go."
