Nigeria climbed to second position in group D World Cup table after defeating Iceland with two unreplied goals on Friday but failed to qualify for the next round following their 2-1 defeat by Argentina in a crucial final group game tie.
Liverpool scout were present to spectate the game between Nigeria and Iceland, and Etebo will join the rest of Reds' targets that could seal a move to Anfield in the winter despite he penned a five-year-deal with Stoke City this summer.
The Reds are focused on adding more strength to their midfield this summer before the new season kicks off.
With the void left by Emre Can's departure this summer and Philippe Coutinho move in January the Reds could realize the need for immediate replacements for the new season.
They have completed the signing of both Naby Keita and Fabinho, and several talents also has been linked with move to Anfield in the past weeks including France super star Nabil Fekir.
