Roberto Firmino has backed Alisson after the goalkeeper error cost Liverpool a goal in Saturday's 2-1 Premier League victory over Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

The Brazilian goalkeeper tried to skillfully secure a back pass from Virgil va Dijk but a tackle from Kelechi Iheanacho saw him dispossessed the ball, after which the Nigerian crosses the ball to Rachid Ghezzal who fired in to put the Foxes one goal behind.

Speaking about his mistake, Alisson said: "It was bad judgement. I made a mistake reading the play." Hitting out at his service, he added: "I didn't get a very good pass.

"We talked about that in the dressing room and I spoke to Virgil. It wasn't a good pass but I could have just kicked it long.

Meanwhile the 66million signed goalkeeper's club and national team mate Roberto Firmino has also blame it on van Dijk's decision.

"The pass [from Van Dijk] was not all that either," Firmino reportedly told ESPN Brasil. "Alisson tried to fix it, but unfortunately it went wrong. He has made an excellent start."
