The German goalkeeping ace has been on sidelines for over a week, having suffered a hand injury prior to Bayern Munich 3-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen.

Neuer was ruled out of action in three fixtures for the Bundesliga giant but he is set to return for their Champions League Round of 16 clash with Liverpool on Tuesday, regarding a positive recovery update he provided for the club.

The skipper told Bayern's official website: "Yesterday went well. Today went well, I've joined in with everything [in training] and I'm ready.

"Even while I was out, I generally did everything apart from the goalkeeper-specific training. Now I've had two good sessions and came through both of them. Everything is working, I completed everything.

"Obviously, the coach picks the line-up. The medical department gave me the go-ahead. I was prescribed some time out. Obviously, I would've liked to have played during this period but that wouldn't have been possible, so I took the time out.

"My hand needed it too. Now I've got the go-ahead from the doctors and I can play."

The goalkeeper will be back to action against Augsburg on Friday before their visit to Anfield for the big match.

Meanwhile Jurgen Klopp's side are expecting Oxlade-Chamberlain's return to action, while Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum and Xherdan Shaqiri are also under fitness check ahead of the clash.
