Questions have been raised of the Premier League golden boot winner last season, who scored 32 times to win the prize and 44 in all competitions.

The Egyptian’s goalless run means he has lost the chance to meet Alan Shearer’s record of becoming the fastest player to reach 50 Premier League goals with a single club, with the England veteran having done so in 66 matches.

Liverpool beat Burnley 4-2 at Anfield and Salah once again couldn't write his name on the goal scorer sheet but thanks to braces from Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane that put the Reds victorious in the entertaining clash, coming from behind after an early goal scored by Westwood in the first half.

Despite the setbacks that has faced the Egyptian winger, Klopp has been urged by former Red defender Steve Nicol to endure and allow him to play himself back into his best form.

"Considering what he’s done the last 18 months, you have to let him ride this out," Nicol told ESPN FC.

"Strikers go through periods where they just can’t do anything right - that’s exactly what he’s going through now.

"Benching him isn’t going to make it any better, taking him off isn’t going to make it any better. He’s earned the right to have the time to sort this out.

"This is the business time of the season so it needs to be sorted out pretty quickly. I know he scored in February but for me since Christmas he’s been struggling.

"The worst thing is his touch, his touch has deserted him. When your touch goes, it starts biting into your confidence as well. For me really since Christmas he has been struggling.

"Fortunately for Liverpool particularly [Sadio] Mane has been the man who has been finding the back of the net.

"Nice to see [Roberto] Firmino getting a couple of goals, that should get him kickstarted again."
