Liverpool and Manchester United have both long been linked with the Real Madrid midfielder who's currently on loan at Bayern Munich.

Bayern have an option to sign the 27-year-old permanently this summer on a lesser price of around €45million but it will cost Premier League sides over €60million to pull a deal.

James Rodriguez is however, wanting a return to Real Madrid after the end of his two-year loan spell and Spanish newspaper El Confidencial has claimed if Bayern Munich prefer not to seal a permanent deal, then Madrid will seek to raise transfer funds by slapping a higher price tag on Rodriguez for another buyer.

El Confidencial reportedly said Real Madrid would set their price to over €60million, but won't accept offers less than €50million,

Accordind to AS, the newspaper said: "Bayern have paid Real Madrid 6.5 million euros a year for each season (that James has been on loan in Munich), and if they want to keep him they will have to activate a purchase clause set at 42 million euros.

"If Bayern finally decide not to keep the player, Madrid will put him on the market for 60 million euros, an initial asking price that they won't drop any lower than 50."

The Bundesliga giant have until 15 June to make a decision on the Colombian international.
