Robertson made 48 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool this season and played in 36 of their 38 Premier League fixtures, providing an impressive 11 assists as the Merseyside club finished second on 97 points and one point behind champions Manchester City.

The Scotland international has been able to established himself as one of the top left-backs in Europe since joining Liverpool from Hull in 2017.

There were rumour of the 25-year-old attracting interest from La Liga champions Barcelona following the Reds' incredible Champions League semi final triumph over the Catalan club.

But former Liverpool manager and player Dalglish sees no reason why the Scotland skipper would want to consider leaving Anfield this summer, regardless of which teams are on demand.

Dalglish wrote of Andy Robertson in a column for The Sunday Post: "Andy Robertson must wake up every morning and think it's Christmas Day.

"That’s why I don't believe he’ll be considering leaving Liverpool for any other football club at home or abroad.

"I'm told he has been linked with a couple of big European clubs. But why would he want to leave Liverpool? Seriously, tell me why?

"Anyway, he is already playing abroad! Well, that was always the way I looked at it when I moved from Scotland to England to join Liverpool from Celtic.

"Week in and week out, he has been hugely influential and his contribution has been enormous. What the team gets out of him in every game is remarkable."
