The Portugal international is at the centre of a transfer tug of war this summer with Jurgen Klopp and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanting his service next season.

Tottenham and Manchester City have also been linked with the Sporting Lisbon midfielder.

Fernandes scored 31 times in 50 games for Sporting last season and was part of the Portugal team that won the UEFA Nations League weeks ago.

Portuguese publication Correio da Manha has claimed Liverpool have made a €45m (£40m) bid for the 24-year-old.

The Reds narrowly missed out on winning the Premier League title last season despite accumulating 97 points and losing just one game.

And without doubt Jurgen Klopp will be looking to add more strength to his squad to challenge defending champions - Manchester City next season.
