Van Dijk has been able to established himself as one of the best center-back in the world, becoming PFA and European best player this year.

Since sealing a huge £75million move from Southampton, the Dutchman has framed the Reds to two Champions League finals, winning the price last season and scooping the Uefa Supper Cup this summer.

The Liverpool defender was previously tied to a £125,000 a week contract with four years still left on the deal.

But according to the Sunday Mirror the 28-year-old has now agreed to extend his stay to six years with the club in a new improved deal worth £200,000 a week.

The report claims that the final details of the new deal were concluded last week and talks had been ongoing since the start of the summer.
