Diego Carlos denies receiving offer to join Liverpool

Sevilla defender Diego Carlos has dismissed rumour that Liverpool  have attempted a bid to sign him this summer

The 27-year-old centre-back completed a £13.5million move from Nantes to Sevilla last May and his outstanding performances in La Liga this term have not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool known to be admirers.

Jurgen Klopp has identified Diego as one of his top targets to replace Dejan Lovren and the Premier League leaders are reportedly ready to pay his £64m release clause at the end of the season.

However, the Brazilian has insisted he’s not received any information from his agent regarding a potential switch to Merseyside.

Asked whether he's received an approach from the Reds, Diego told Estadio Deportivo: "So far, my agent has not spoken to me about those situations.

"I am not interested to know about other teams.

"I always tell him that, if he is going to tell me something, that it be something firm, that he does not come to me with stories, because I must have my head focussed on Sevilla.

"I don't want those things to cause me a distraction.

Lovren is widely expected to make a move away from Anfield this summer and the rumours have not surprised Jamie Carragher considering the Croatian continues to make the ‘same mistake’ at Liverpool.
