Jurgen Klopp responds to threatening Diogo Jota claim

Jurgen Klopp has downplayed suggestions Diogo Jota has made life difficult for Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino

The Liverpool manager believes his established front three have responded positively to Diogo Jota threatening their first-team place.

Jota has been an outstanding success since arriving from Wolverhampton Wanderers for an initial £41million, scoring nine goals in 15 appearances.

Injuries, illness and the impact of the new signing have meant the regular front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah - who have 17 goals between them - have started together in only half of Liverpool's 18 games this season.

But when asked if the form of Jota had disturbed the triumvirate, Klopp said: "There's no problem.

"Diogo is doing very well at the moment, absolutely. But to keep that standard he has to work really hard and be in good shape and score goals, because the other boys do that, usually.

"There's nothing bad in that situation. The forwards wouldn't be who they are or where they are if they couldn't deal with a situation like that. They are completely fine with it.

"They are happy Diogo had that brilliant start, just as I am, but that's already gone now. We have to carry on.

"For me, the most important thing is that we don't have to bite our nails every game and hope they come through so we can bring them into the next

"It's the only area of the team where we have more players available than we can line up in one game.

"All other positions pretty much whoever can walk will play, or it will be a kid. Both is fine."
