Georginio Wijnaldum's Anfield contract continues to wind down as his five-year stay at appears to be nearing its conclusion and the midfielder has opened up on the situation
The midfielder admits sorting out his future at Liverpool is "not as easy as everyone thinks" as he explained the difficulties surrounding the situation.
"First you have to negotiate with the club and its so difficult which is why it takes so long.
"The situation we are in right now is not the most important, the most important thing is to get back on track and start winning games."
Wijnaldum has helped Liverpool win the Premier League and the Champions League in recent years.
But there has been season-long speculation regarding a move to Barcelona which would allow him to reunite with former Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman.
The Dutchman added: "It would be really difficult. I'd be leaving a team I really love and a club where I feel really comfortable
"But then again you'd know the situation why you have to leave. I'd be devastated if I can't continue to play with this team."
