Liverpool told to avoid 'unthinkable' conclusion

Potential question marks have arisen over Henderson’s Anfield future amid the captain's contract extension saga

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy does not see Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson leaving the club this summer.

Potential question marks have arisen over the skipper's Anfield future following a number of media reports in recent weeks.

It was claimed that no progress has been made over a new deal for the Reds skipper despite contract talks having taken place over the summer.

But Murphy, speaking to BBC Sport , believes it is hugely important that the England international stay put at Anfield.

"It is hugely important that Liverpool get Jordan Henderson’s contract situation sorted out.

"They have already lost Georginio Wijnaldum, who has been under-rated for the past few years.

"I do expect Henderson to stay, because he has been so pivotal to their success, but they need to put those concerns to bed quickly. Losing both now would be unthinkable."
