Klopp delivers extent of Keita injury

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Naby Keita's injury is not a serious one

The Liverpool midfielder was substituted at half time of the 3-0 win at Norwich City as the Reds eased into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup at Carrow Road on Tuesday night.

Two goals from Takumi Minamino either side of a Divock Origi header was enough to send the Reds into the next round in Norfolk, but the one negative was the sight of Keita being withdrawn at the break.

Keita kicked the floor when trying a through ball early in the first half and was brought off only as a precaution for Tyler Morton, Klopp confirmed after the game.

Klopp said: "Was it perfect? No, but for good reasons.

"It wasn’t possible to have a perfect game today because we had to make too many changes.

"We started really well, really aggressive, really lively but then you could see we hadn’t trained that way because we had to make a lot of decisions really late.

"The last line and the goalies saved us in these moments with speed and good challenges, so there wasn’t really much in it for Norwich.

"We scored a really good goal again from a set-piece, second ball, massive."

On the Keita injury, Klopp added: "At half-time we had to change because Naby had kicked the grass, and it was a little uncomfortable, but we are not too concerned.

“With Curtis in the half-space and Tyler Morton as a No.6, it looked much more natural immediately.

"The boys passed quicker and smarter, Oxlade-Chamberlain played a little bit higher on the left wing.

"Taki Minamino a bit more in the centre in the half-spaces so Ox could use his speed and Taki connected the game with Tyler and Curtis so it was all good.

“We scored the second and third goal and controlled the game."
