Gary Neville makes U-turn on Liverpool prediction after Newcastle draw United

Gary Neville has made a change to his Premier League prediction involving Liverpool and his old club Manchester United

The Sky Sports pundit was working alongside Reds legend Jamie Carragher for Monday Night Football.

Neville revisited an early-season prediction involving Liverpool after watching his former side struggle at Newcastle United.

The former Manchester United player and Liverpool legend Carragher were reflecting on Man United’s 1-1 draw with Newcastle United, when they turned their attention to their early season predictions.

Neville initially predicted Manchester City to win the Premier League, with the Red Devils and Chelsea finishing above Liverpool, who he tipped to finish fourth place.

It led to plenty of criticism for the former United skipper among Kopites, and now he has changed his mind.

"The top one I am all right with (backing Manchester City to win the PL title)," said Neville.

"The second one (Chelsea), I think Liverpool, you can swap them with Manchester United. That will be wrong."

Liverpool are currently second in the Premier League, six points behind leaders Man City, and level with third-placed Chelsea, but do have a game in hand.

After Man United's draw with Newcastle, they are 13 points behind Liverpool in seventh having played one match less.
