'We can hurt them' - Inter Milan star makes bold Liverpool Champions League tie claim

Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar believes his San Siro side can cause Liverpool problems in their upcoming round of 16 tie in the Champions League

Skriniar highlighted how the first leg, in Italy on February 16, will be crucial in getting the better of Jurgen Klopp's men.

Inter were knocked out at the group stage last season and the Slovakia centre-back believes that failure actually helped the San Siro club go on to win Serie A under then manager Antonio Conte.

They're now managed by Simone Inzaghi, and top of the Italian top flight once more, but Skriniar wants to go further in the Champions League this term.

"Liverpool? I believe in this Inter, we can hurt them, especially at San Siro. We arrive ready even if the calendar of January and February is very tough," said Skriniar.

"I would like to play all the time, then I don’t have the strength to play 60 games a year."

Of last year's Champions League exit, he added: "In the end it helped us win the Scudetto. The elimination united us and put us in a great sense of revenge. In Serie A you work a lot on tactics, you don’t play back and forth but more with your head.

"The English go, go, go. We did well with Real Madrid, then they scored with a 25-metre shot. Certain teams you have to capitalise on the opportunity."
