Leeds United sound potential transfer blow to Liverpool

Leeds United are reportedly confident of agreeing a new contract with Raphinha

It is understood Liverpool have been tracking the progress of the Brazilian, as he's excelled since moving to the Premier League.

Raphinha settled into English football with ease last term at Elland Road, helping Marcelo Bielsa's side to a ninth-place finish in their first season back in the top flight.

While the team has struggled with injuries this term and subsequently failed to find the same consistency, Raphinha has continued to thrive.

In 2021-22 the 25-year-old has eight goals and two assists from his 18 Premier League outings, with his stellar form earning him a call-up to the Brazil national side earlier in the campaign.

It's no shock that some of the elite clubs in the Premier League are keeping an eye on his progress as a result, although getting him away from Leeds may be more difficult this summer based on pending developments.

According to The Athletic's Leeds writer Phil Hay, the club is "increasingly confident of finalising a new contract with Raphinha."

In the accompanying report it's said no offers have come in for the former Stade Rennais winger and that Leeds would rebuff any bids received anyway.
