January transfer recap: Liverpool's ins and outs in January

A roundup of all the comings and goings at Liverpool during the January transfer window

Here’s a look at all the incomings and outgoings that occurred at Anfield over the last month.

Morgan Boyes - to Livingston (Released)

Having joined Liverpool’s academy at an early age, the 20-year-old defender made two senior appearances for the Reds during the 2019/20 campaign.

Boyes joined Scottish Premiership side Livingston near the start of January on a permanent deal until 2023 after being a regular for Barry Lewtas’ U23’s side.

Tony Gallacher - to St. Johnstone (Released)

Gallacher was Liverpool’s first exit of the January window after he secured a move to the Scottish side.

The full-back spent almost four years with Liverpool after moving from Falkirk as a teenager, going on to make his only Liverpool appearance in a League Cup tie with Aston Villa, as well as enjoying a loan spell with Toronto.

Vitezslav Jaros - to Notts County (Loan)

The Czech goalkeeper joined the National League side earlier this month as the 20-year-old continues his development away from Anfield.

Jaros was part of the Liverpool side that won the FA Youth Cup in 2019 and was also awarded Player of the Year during his loan spell at St. Patrick’s Athletic last season.

Nat Phillips - to Bournemouth (Loan)

The 24-year-old was a high-profile exit for the Reds this month as he completed his search for more regular game time.

Phillips is understood to have been in demand , with Liverpool turning down two offers in the region of £7m for the centre-back, with him valued between £12-£15m by the club.

He joined Bournemouth on loan for the rest of the season, with Scott Parker’s side pushing for promotion to the Premier League.

Luis Diaz - from Porto (Σ£50m)

Liverpool completed the signing of Luis Diaz on Sunday, January 30, to give a major boost to their squad ahead of the final closing months of the season.

Representatives from the Reds flew out to South America to complete the deal with a deal struck for
£37.5million up front and have also agreed on a package of add-ons worth a potential £12.5m.

Liam Hughes- to Stalybridge Celtic (Loan)

Having arrived from Celtic last January, the Northern Irish goalkeeper was on the move once again this year.

Hughes will spend the remainder of the season with Northern Premier League side Stalybridge Celtic, after signing a new long-term deal with the Reds in the summer.

Neco Williams - to Fulham (Loan)

Despite Liverpool failing to finalise a deal for Fabio Carvalho, Williams did seal a late deal to Craven Cottage.

The 20-year-old had been touted with a potential exit throughout the window but seemed unlikely to be on the move until the final hours of deadline day.

The Wales international will spend the remainder of the season with Fulham, while Marco Silva's side hunt for promotion to the Premier League.
