Mo Salah to Barcelona claim made

Former Barcelona president Joan Gaspart doesn't believe Mohamed Salah will join the Catalan club in the future

Salah has been in fine form for Liverpool this season, scoring 27 times in 33 appearances in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp's side.

It is understood that negotiations are ongoing between the forward's representatives and the club, with Salah in the final two years of his current deal that was signed in 2018.

Liverpool are keen to reward Salah for his continued outstanding contribution since arriving from Roma for £43.9million in the summer of 2017.

And Gaspart believes that despite the speculation linking Salah with Barcelona, he doesn't see a transfer taking place.

He told Egyption TV Channel's Number 10 programme: "Mohamed Salah is a great player and I like that he is developing himself quickly, but I do not think that Mohamed Salah will join Barcelona one day.

"Xavi loves Barcelona and is a legend as a player, and he is currently making a great effort to restore Barcelona to its position again.

"I do not like to interfere in the technical matters of any technical director in general, so I cannot choose any player to contract with, as the coach is responsible for selecting the players."
