Pundit brands Virgil van Dijk 'horrible' for what he did against Chelsea

Former Arsenal player Ian Wright has branded Virgil van Dijk horrible for his spot kick against Chelsea

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalga was on the receiving end of a 'horrible' glare from Virgil van Dijk after the Liverpool centreback converted his spot-kick at Wembley on Sunday.

With the sides unable to be separated after 120 minutes of tense action, the game had to be settled with a shoot-out and Chelsea took the opportunity to bring on penalty specialist Kepa shortly before the end of extra time.

But when the Spaniard purposely stood to one side of his goal to face Liverpool's third attempt, taker Van Dijk smashed the ball into the same corner he was covering before delivering a menacing glare at his opponent before strolling off.

Speaking on his podcast 'Wrighty's House', for Arsenal and England striker Wright joked: "I saw stuff in the Carabao Cup that was pure crazy.

"With the Virgil penalty - to see Arrizabalga standing in the corner and Virgil still put it in that corner - and then it's the way that Virgil looked at him afterwards.

"He gave him such a look of disdain, it was horrible. "Virgil's horrible!

"He's got a great look of disdain."
