FA Cup final: Jurgen Klopp confirms Fabinho blow

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has issued an injury update on Fabinho's fitness ahead of the FA Cup final vs Chelsea

Jurgen Klopp is confident Fabinho will be fit for the Champions League final - and believes Liverpool can cope with his absence in the meantime.

Fabinho prompted a major injury scare when he limped off half-an-hour into the Reds' dramatic 2-1 Premier League win at Aston Villa on Tuesday night.

Scans have subsequently confirmed a hamstring strain that is almost certain to rule the Brazilian out for the remainder of Liverpool's domestic campaign, with Saturday's FA Cup final against Chelsea followed by league games at Southampton on Tuesday and at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers five days later.

Klopp, speaking on his pre FA Cup final conference said: "There's a good chance that he will be available for the Champions League final."

Jordan Henderson impressed when replacing Fabinho at Villa Park with the captain now expected to lead out Liverpool at Wembley this weekend. And Klopp has every faith the Reds will be able to deal with the absence of the Brazilian.

"We have to," said the Reds boss. "Because we can cope. Having him or not having him is a difference but it is all fine. That’s normal stuff that happens.

"It's never in a position where you have 12 options, it’s always in a position where you (don’t). We have a few players. Hendo came on and played incredible (at Villa), he has played super games this season at number six so that is not a problem."
