In the face of overwhelming Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid reports last week, an insider disclosed that the France international was ready to beat transfer barriers to join Anfield.
Later on, Lfc Rumour revealed that the Reds were advancing in talks with the forward's entourage after his Real Madrid snub.
Although Kylian Mbappe has penned a three-year contract extension at Paris, the Frenchman still revealed the driver behind his keenness to join the Reds. He said in an interview with the Telegraph: "We talked a little bit, but not too much. We talked a little bit."
He added: "I talked to Liverpool because it's the favourite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool. I don't know why, you will have to ask her! "It's a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It's a big club."
Lfc Rumour understand that it was Jurgen Klopp who allowed talks led by Mbappe to slump, with concerns over the wage structure at Anfield.
It was gathered that the Liverpool manager gave some words of advice to the World Cup winner before he penned an extension at PSG.
