Liverpool pushing to wrap up deal after Man United preseason upset

Liverpool are coming strong to add Brazilian forward Antony to their firepower according to reports

Liverpool were dealt a harsh lesson in their 4-0 friendly defeat by Manchester United on Tuesday and, although it may just be a pre-season fixture, it has already raised questions over whether the Reds may need any more new additions before the season starts.

The Reds have already added three new players to their squad this summer, as Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his options. Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay have all been signed.

Now, according to Yahoo Sports,  the Merseyside club have entered talks with Ajax over a move for Brazilian winger Antony. The 22-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United throughout the transfer window.

It has been claimed that while United have been deemed favourites to sign the Brazilian, Liverpool are now in talks, plotting to hijack the Red Devils' position. The report adds that the Anfield club have ‘entered the game strongly’ in terms of making moves to sign the Brazilian.
