Liverpool receive player transfer blow after personal terms agreed

Barcelona starlet Gavi has put an end to any speculation surrounding his future after agreeing a new deal

The 17-year-old has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent months with rumours suggesting the Reds could capitalise if a deal is not reached.

However, Barcelona's director of football Mateu Alemany says the youngster will 'continue' at the Camp Nou and a deal has been agreed, however a deal longer than three years cannot be signed until the player turns 18 next month.

Alemany said : "There is an outline of an agreement. We are highly committed to sorting out this situation. He is 17 years of age and we are waiting until he turns 18 on 5 August so he can sign a contract longer than three years. We have small details to close out but we will get it resolved. 100% Gavi will continue at Barca."

Gavi's current contract runs until next summer.
