Liverpool vs Crystal Palace: Partick Vieira turns all attention to Nunez blows hot

Darwin Nunez will be looking to maintain his impressive start when Liverpool host Crystal Palace in the Premier League this evening

Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira has suggested his side are well-equipped to deal with the danger Darwin Nunez is likely to pose at Anfield this evening.

Liverpool are back in Premier League action tonight and will be looking to claim a first three points of the new season, having been held by Fulham on the opening weekend. One individual who shone for Jurgen Klopp's side at Craven Cottage was Nunez, who was involved in both of the Reds' two goals scored.

There is now every chance the Uruguayan could be handed a place in the starting-eleven from the off by Klopp, having made an impact from the bench in both the Community Shield and in Liverpool's first league contest of the campaign.

Nunez's movement on the edge of the area and inside the box makes him a nightmare for defenders, something Manchester City and Fulham were quick to discover during his cameo appearances.

Palace are now hoping to buck this trend, however, and Vieira has insisted the Eagles have done their due diligence on the former Benfica forward.

"We watch games, watch football, watch it from all around Europe. He was scoring goals at his previous team and he’s well known as a striker. The players know about him," he told Crystal Palace's official website .

The Frenchman continued: "He can run in behind, stretch the opposition team. He’s closing down back fours and centre-backs. He doesn’t give them much time on the ball – he’s a fighter, he’s determined and a hard working centre-forward.

"He's the profile of a modern centre-forward who defends really well and works hard but at the same time runs in behind and scores goals. When you look at his price tag, you’re not surprised. He’s the complete striker."
