Liverpool host Newcastle United in the Premier League tonight looking for two consecutive wins

Liverpool vs. Newcastle

Liverpool are 12th in the Premier League table and have struggled so far this season.

The Reds have struggled in their early bid to mount a title challenge this season, and they currently sit 12th in the Premier League table.

Their recent run of form has been particularly disappointing: In their last four league games, Liverpool have won only one. And it was against bottom-of-the-table Bournemouth!

Injuries have also taken their toll on Jurgen Klopp's squad as he tries to put together his strongest side possible for every game—but with just fewer than 24 hours left until September 1st (which is when the summer transfer window closes), there's a possibility that the Reds would work on a transfer.

Prediction ( Liverpool vs. Newcastle)

Liverpool news ahead of Newcastle meeting

Liverpool have won only one of their past four league games. They drew with Fulham and  Crystal Palace and lost to Manchester United. Their only win was against Bournemouth last weekend.

The look set to be without a host of players for the night, as Diogo Jota and Thiago faces a race against time to be fit.

While Jota will not feature today for the Reds, Jurgen Klopp said the Portuguese could return to full training ahead of their weekend fixture - he remains hopeful that Jota will recover in time for next week's derby with Everton.

In his absence, Roberto  Firmino looks set to start again as Liverpool's No.9, while Harvey Elliott could also come into Klopp's starting lineup at Anfield as they look to build on their 9-0 thrashing of Bournemouth last Saturday.

Elsewhere, Joel Matip is back training with Klopp's squad but it remains unclear if he will return to first-team action tonight, while Curtis  Jones is also likely to be a doubt for the squad.

Newcastle news ahead of Liverpool meeting

Newcastle have been on a good run of form recently. The Magpies sit 10th in the Premier  League table with 6pts and just one ahead of Liverpool.

Newcastle United have not lost in all their league games so far. They have three draws and one win. Their last match was against Wolves, which ended 1-1.  The Magpies were on the verge of their second win of the Premier League season after scoring three times against Manchester City but ended up drawing 3-3 at St James Park.

they are looking forward to adding another point or two to their tally by beating Liverpool tonight at Anfield.

They'll be without some important names, the club manager has confirmed.
