Unsurprisingly, the twist as Sky Sports confirm Jurgen Klopp's transfer cleverness

Liverpool have reached an agreement with Sporting to sign Matheus Nunes

It has been gathered that the Reds have agreed a transfer fee adding up to around €50m for the midfielder.

The Reds were eyeing a midfield signing earlier this summer when they missed out on Aurelien Tchouameni and kept sight on Jude Bellingham.

However Jurgen Klopp, after increasing speculations confirmed that his side are not in the market for a new midfield player.

He told Sky Sports : "There is no need for a new midfielder. We cannot just add on midfielders. We respect the contracts with our boys as well, that means as long as we signed them they get all our support – in training, between the sessions, during the games and between the games."

Liverpool have in the past few days pushed eagerly for Portuguese midfielder Matheus Nunes, they reportedly reached a personal agreement with the player last week.

Nunes is now expected to arrive Liverpool and pen a five-year contract following a €50million fee agreement with Sporting CP, insiders have disclosed.
