The Reds are reportedly preparing a January swoop for Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong who's in the radar of Chelsea Manchester United.

The need for a quality midfield player has been a priority for Liverpool since the summer transfer window.

Calls for a reinforcement in the midfield led to the emergency signing of Arthur Melo who is now on the sidelines with a muscle injury.

Jurgen Klopp's side have struggled since the start of the season, however there's a possibility that they can still mount a title challenge in all competitions, and that would depend on the improvement of their team performances.

The right business in the January market can put them back on track as the undisputed title contenders in the past five seasons alongside Manchester City.

The ESPN have reported that they have a plan on table to land wantaway Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong in three months time.

Despite the Reds continued to be linked with Jude Bellingham , who apparently won't be leaving Dortmund until next summer, they see an advantage in signing De Jong in January to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season.
