Liverpool new signing Cody Gakpo had transfer conversations with Van Dijk before the clubs' agreement
On Monday night, PSV announced they had agreed to sell Gakpo to Liverpool for a record fee of the Dutch club.
After impressing for the Netherlands at the World Cup in Qatar, Gakpo caused a stir among clubs who were interested in him including Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United.
But Liverpool won the race for the winger who's more interested in moving to Anfield thanks to Virgil van Dijk who has been revealed to have excited the 23-year-old to chose the Reds.
Lfc Rumour have gathered that Van Dijk had told Gakpo that a move to Anfield would possibly only materialise this winter and after the winter transfer it could happen that Liverpool may be looking for someone else.
The Dutch winger has already had the ambition to play for Jurgen Klopp's men and alongside Big V who's his compatriot.
Liverpool fans expect Gakpo to travel down for his medical soon and don't have a long wait like Darwin.
