Despite a £60 million deal between Liverpool and Southampton being agreed, Lavia has opted to join Chelsea, leaving Liverpool a blow in the business.

The decision to join Chelsea over the Reds suggests that the teenager sees a greater opportunity for growth and development at Chelsea, as well as a better fit for his playing style within the club's system.

Negotiations between Chelsea and Southampton resulted in an agreement of £53 million, with an additional £5 million payable in add-ons.

Lavia is now expected to undergo a medical with the London club and also put pen to paper in contract terms.
