Cody Gakpo has committed his future to Liverpool with a new long-term deal
Liverpool have secured the services of Cody Gakpo for the long haul, after the Dutch international signed a new long-term contract with the club. The deal, announced on August 30, 2025, extends his stay well beyond the original 2028 expiry, underlining his importance to manager Arne Slot’s plans.
Since arriving from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023, Gakpo has quietly become one of Liverpool’s most consistent performers, contributing 42 goals and 16 assists in just over 130 appearances. His versatility across the front line and ability to link play made him a tactical asset in both Jürgen Klopp’s final season and Slot’s current setup.
Gakpo expressed his delight at staying put, saying:
“It feels amazing to extend my contract here. I feel at home, and I want to keep growing with this team."
The new deal comes amid whispers of interest from Bayern Munich earlier in the summer, but Liverpool moved swiftly to reaffirm their commitment to the 26-year-old forward.
With a Premier League title already under his belt, Gakpo’s extension signals that he’s not just part of Liverpool’s present but its future as well.
