Florian Wirtz Eases Injury Fears with Positive Training Footage
Liverpool fans received a welcome boost today as Florian Wirtz was seen taking part in full training with the German national team, easing concerns over a potential injury sustained last week.
The £116.5 million summer signing sparked alarm among supporters after missing a closed training session ahead of Germany’s World Cup qualifiers. Speculation quickly swirled online, with some fearing the playmaker had picked up a knock that could delay his Liverpool debut.
However, fresh footage released today shows the 22-year-old fully involved in Germany’s final preparations, moving freely and participating in drills without any visible discomfort. The images have reassured both club staff and fans that Wirtz’s absence was likely precautionary rather than a sign of a serious issue.
Wirtz has been touted as one of Liverpool’s most exciting arrivals in recent years, expected to form a dynamic creative partnership alongside fellow new signing Alexander Isak. His vision, control, and final-third intelligence make him a key piece in Arne Slot’s tactical rebuild.
While Liverpool’s medical team will continue to monitor his condition closely, this latest development suggests Wirtz will be available for selection once the international break concludes potentially in time for Liverpool’s Carabao Cup clash against Southampton later this month.

Marc Guéhi Transfer Collapse: How Liverpool’s Defensive Coup Fell Apart in the Final Hour
Marc Guéhi’s £35 million move to Liverpool was meant to be one of the final flourishes of a blockbuster transfer window
The deal had all the ingredients of a late-window success: a top-six club making a decisive swoop, a player eager to take the next step in his career, and a fee deemed fair by all parties.
Yet, within a span of two chaotic hours, it all fell apart.
From Agreement to Abrupt Collapse
On the morning of September 1st, Liverpool and Crystal Palace had reached a verbal agreement for the England international centre-back. Guéhi had completed his medical in Merseyside and was preparing for what he believed would be his unveiling at Anfield.
Liverpool, racing against the clock, submitted the deal sheet before the 7 PM deadline, buying themselves extra time to complete the formalities. It appeared to be a done deal.
But football doesn’t follow scripts especially on deadline day.
In a stunning reversal, Palace manager Oliver Glasner refused to sign off on the move. The reason? The club’s targeted replacement, Brighton’s Igor Julio, had opted to join West Ham United. That left Palace scrambling and, ultimately, without a viable alternative at centre-back.
Glasner’s Stand: Football First, Finances Later
Sources close to the club revealed that Glasner made it abundantly clear to the board that selling Guéhi without a ready-made replacement would compromise the integrity of the squad and the tactical structure he had been building since his arrival.
The Austrian reportedly told Palace chairman Steve Parish that if Guéhi was sold without reinforcement, he would consider his position. With less than an hour left in the window and no backup plan secured, Parish blinked. The deal was dead.
In an era where player sales often outweigh footballing logic, Glasner’s stand was as rare as it was risky.
Guéhi’s Reaction
Grace Amid Disappointment Marc Guéhi, by all accounts, handled the collapse with admirable maturity. There were no leaked frustrations, no late-night agent statements, no cryptic social media posts.
Instead, the 24-year-old accepted the situation, even speaking with Glasner and Parish directly after the decision. Having played and scored in Palace’s match earlier that week, Guéhi seemed destined for a big exit. Instead, he now enters the final year of his contract with a fanbase that still holds him in high regard.
What comes next is unclear will he sign a new deal, push for a January exit, or leave on a free next summer? For now, he remains Palace’s captain, and perhaps their most important player.
Liverpool Left Exposed?
Liverpool spent a staggering £417 million this window, including the record-breaking acquisition of striker Alexander Isak. Yet, the failure to land Guéhi reportedly Slot's top target for defensive reinforcement leaves a glaring hole. The Reds have conceded 4 times so far in the early stage of the new season.
Expect renewed interest in January, though by then, Liverpool may find themselves competing with European giants for Guéhi’s signature without the leverage they had this summer.
What Next for Guéhi, Palace, and Liverpool?
Guéhi: Stays at Palace, at least until January. May sign a new deal or leave on a free in 2026.
Crystal Palace: Retains their captain but must brace for renewed transfer pressure in the winter window.
Liverpool: Left scrambling to reassess their defensive options, with no immediate fallback lined up.

Marc Guéhi’s Liverpool Move Collapses in Late Deadline Day Drama
Marc Guéhi’s move to Liverpool breaks down on deadline day
Marc Guéhi’s highly anticipated move to Liverpool sensationally collapsed in the final hours of the summer transfer window, despite the Crystal Palace defender completing a medical and a deal sheet being submitted ahead of the deadline.
The £35 million deal was set to make Guéhi Liverpool’s marquee defensive signing of the summer. However, Palace manager Oliver Glasner pulled the plug after the club failed to secure a suitable replacement most notably missing out on Brighton’s Igor Julio, who joined West Ham instead.
Glasner reportedly issued an ultimatum, threatening to walk away if the club sold Guéhi without reinforcement. In a rare show of managerial authority overriding boardroom decisions, Palace stood firm.
Guéhi, who remains professional throughout, is now expected to stay at Selhurst Park until at least January, unless a contract extension is negotiated. Liverpool, meanwhile, end the window without the defensive depth they desperately sought.
Alexander Isak Arrives in Liverpool for Medical Ahead of Record-Breaking Transfer
Liverpool complete deal to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle
Swedish striker Alexander Isak has arrived in Liverpool to undergo a medical ahead of a sensational British-record transfer from Newcastle United, sources close to the club have confirmed.
The 25-year-old touched down at Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre early Monday morning, where he is completing final checks before putting pen to paper on a six-year deal. The move is set to cost Liverpool £125 million, with potential add-ons taking the total fee to £130 million—making it the most expensive transfer in British football history.
Isak’s arrival comes after a dramatic deadline-day agreement between the two clubs, following weeks of stalled negotiations and growing frustration from the player, who reportedly pushed for the transfer after Newcastle initially blocked earlier bids.
