Liverpool reliable reporter has hinted Klopp has no intent of signing defenders this summer

More attention has been drawn into the midfield this term and Liverpool have already landed Monaco star and Naby Keita at Anfield, awaiting the new season.

It was earlier reported that Reds are planning swoop for Porto defender Alex Telles and are also ready to battle Manchester United for Belgium's Toby Alderweireld

The Belgian defender has been linkened to Liverpool heavy weight signing Virgil Van Djik by his club Tottenham but the hopes of a deal for both defenders this window is doubtful according to James Pearce claims.

Recent report has also claimed Liverpool have tabled a €22million offer for Croatian defender Domagoj Vida.

“Not that I know of,” said James Pearce when asked if Klopp will add a defender to his squad this negotiation period.

“Klopp was delighted with how Van Dijk and Lovren established a partnership in the second half of last season.

“Matip is also close to full fitness after his thigh injury.
“Gomez is on the comeback trail and I’d expect him to get some game time at centre-back in 2018/19.

“Then there’s Klavan, who is about to enter the final year of his deal.

Pearce also claimed Liverpool would need to sign a quality attacking midfielder if they want to be Premier League contenders for the new season.

“If Liverpool are serious about challenging for the Premier League title next season then  they need a top class attacking midfielder,” said Pearce.

“If they don’t go back in for Fekir then I’d like to see them test Dortmund’s resolve on Pulisic.

“The signings of Keita and Fabinho should help Liverpool close the gap on City but Klopp needs a few more in the door.”
