Liverpool told to snub £59m move for Real Madrid ace

Liverpool have been urged to ignore plans of landing Isco this winter

Reports from Spain had earlier linked the Reds with a move for the 27-year-old, with the El Desmarque claiming a £47million bid was rejected by Real Madrid.

Jurgen Klopp is keen to bolster his midfield in the January transfer window as Liverpool chase Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup glory this term.

It is believed the German sees Isco as a player who could offer a fresh creative threat for his side.

But former Premier League goalkeeper Shaka Hislop, now a prominent pundit on ESPN FC, is not convinced enough that the Spain international would fit into Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool midfield trio despite his brilliance since being with the Los Blancos.

"I'm not sure about this one, I'm just trying to figure out exactly where he fits," said Hislop.

"Listen, don't get me wrong, I love Isco as a player. But you also have to appreciate the balance to Liverpool right now.

"That's the challenge with trying to assess Liverpool’s transfer targets, because that machine is so well oiled and everything just seems to work so perfectly together, who comes in to make them better?

"It's a very difficult balancing act in bringing someone who makes them better and doesn't upset that balance.

"Right now, I'm just going to leave Liverpool as is and say it doesn't really work despite how highly I think of Isco.

"It's a tough one because whenever you have successful teams, you always hear managers who are successful over the long term speaking about this, they have to plan for the next season and the next season and they need to bring fresh faces in if at the very least, to freshen things up and keep competition high."

The Reds are now more hopeful of landing Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz following Real Madrid's reluctance to listen to their offer for Isco.

Ruiz has emerged as one of Europe's best midfielders since joining the Italian Blues from Real Betis in 2018.
