Liverpool could risk £70m to land Lionel Messi in the summer as Barcelona consider selling

The Barcelona superstar is currently tied to a four-year contract at the Nou Camp which will end in the summer of 2021

Messi could finally be eyeing a move from Barcelona at the end of the season which would be his first remarkable transfer since his footballing career.

How much the six-time Ballon d'Or winner would cost at his current age and his weekly wages - is a less significant factor to be concerned about in comparison to the creativity he can add to a team. Even a 33-year-old Messi playing at half his current ability would still be better than most players on the pitch, to be honest.

Liverpool are among the number of English side that are considering moving for the 32-year-old if he decide to exit the Nou camp in the summer.

Speaking to France Football after winning his sixth Ballon d’Or back in December, Messi admitted he once considered leaving Barcelona and may quit the club someday: “I experienced a difficult moment (with the Spanish tax authorities, 5 years ago), but I succeeded in moving past it thanks to the support of people in Barcelona and the club.

"It allowed me to continue here. It is just that the moment that I announced that, I did not feel comfortable in Spain, nothing more.

"Offers, I get them all the time. Each year, I have the possibility to sign somewhere else.

"A number of clubs open their door for me, but they know that what I want is clear. There were just there in case that, one day, I may want a change of scenery.

Mess is currently valued at £120million and Liverpool may have to pay less than £80m in the summer, pondering on even a lesser figure when both the Catalan club and player come to a staggering contract renewal talk.
