The Reds reportedly had their offer turned down with Napoli demanding closer to a £90m fee for the Senegal international.

Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport claims Jurgen Klopp is desperate to sign Koulibaly this summer to strengthen his backline next season.

The report on Sunday says Liverpool have ventured a €65million offer for the fullback and has been turned down by the Italian blues.

It is understood that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis wants a massive €100m for Koulibaly and has continued to insist on receiving that amount from suitors.

De Laurentiis expects a record buying fee for 29-year-old Koulibaly but it could end up a hitch on the player who wants to experience a new challenge outside Italy next season.
