The Brazilian midfielder has been pushing hard for a move back to Anfield in recent days with Barcelona willing to show him the exit door when his loan spell at Bayern Munich ends this summer.

There are number of Premier League clubs wanting to take Coutinho on a permanent deal including Newcastle and Tottenham.

But the former Liverpool man would prefer only a loan move to Premier League clubs other than Liverpool.

And it has been gathered that Everton have appeared in pole position to take the 28-year-old on his request.

According to The transfer window podcast, Barcelona are willing to pay a third of Coutinho's wages to make a loan deal work for Everton.

The report says Coutinho's agent, Kia Joorabchian, is close friend with Everton owner Farhad Moshiri and could help the toffees broker the deal.
