The Liverpool skipper joined the England national with the hope of getting minutes ahead of next weekend’s Merseyside derby.

Joining the Three Lions from the start of the game, Henderson was involved in a foul play that saw his side levelled up through a spot kick after plunging under a challenge from Thomas Meunier.

The penalty was slotted in by Marcus Rashford and it cancelled out Romelu Lukaku’s opener before Mason Mount’s deflected shot in the second half won the Wembley contest.

Speaking on ITV during the highlight show former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane believes refree decision to award England a penalty was compromised by Henderson's reaction, insisting the challenge on the Liverpool skipper never worth a penalty.
