Jurgen Klopp previews Merseyside derby

Liverpool manager Jurgen  Klopp has cleared the doubt about the involvement of Sadio Mane and Thiago Alcantara in today's Merseyside derby insisting both players are in good health to pitch in.

The Liverpool manager watched his side hammered 7-2 by Aston Villa in the absence of both stars at the Villa Park last weekend.

Klopp told his pre match conference: "We assess the situation every day. We have our specific measurements, how we do it with heart rate and how we can measure if they are more fatigued than usual.

"They both look really good. We are very close with the doctors and we don't want to – and would never – risk anybody. Usually in these cases, in at least the last three, four of five days of the quarantine the boys are ready.

"They cannot come out of quarantine, but they are on treadmills, on the bike and when they start training again it is not that they start from nil. They have still a proper shape, so should be fine to play.

"So many things are new in the moment and this is really new, but we try to be as sensible as possible with them."
