Liverpool bid turned down as Barcelona hijack deal

Atletico Madrid have reportedly rejected a bid from Liverpool for Saul Niguez

According to the Mundo Deportivo an offer of around £34million has been turned down by the reigning La Liga champions for Saul.

The Spanish sports newspaper says Atletico are willing to let the 26-year-old leave this summer but would require a greater fee, at least €50 million.

It also claim Barca have proposed a swap deal where Antoine  Griezmann will be used as a makeweight,  ‘an idea that could convince’ Simeone, who worked with Griezmann extensively before his move to Barcelona in 2019.

Saul was part of Diego Simeone's side that overcame Real Madrid and Barcelona to win the La Liga title last season.

The Spain international midfielder is under contract at the Metropolitano until 2026.
