Calciomercato claims the Reds are willing to 'offer a player in exchange' for the 25-year-old in order to lower the fee in demand by Inter.
Barella is valued at around €90m (£77m) and the report suggests Liverpool could 'offer' Naby Keita as a makeweight to pull a deal through.
Barella is long-term target for Liverpool. The Italian midfielder has been linked with the Reds since the summer of 2018.
