Amid Moises Caicedo's reported interest from Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool, Brighton & Hove Albion manager Graham Potter has joked about the player leaving the club before the summer transfer deadline on Thursday.

Potter stated that only Caicedo's boots could be purchased for the speculated £42 million valuation of the Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder.

When discussing the recent rumors linking prominent Premier League sides like Liverpool to the midfielder, Potter expressed confidence that he could keep his fast rising midfielder at the Amex Stadium.

Since joining Brighton from Independiente de Valle in February 2021 for $4.5 million, Caicedo has become one of the fast rising midfield players in  the Premier League. He was vital to Brighton's ninth-place finish in the league last season and has continued his great form with an unbeaten start to this season for the Seagulls.

"I think you'd probably get his boots for that from the chairman maybe, knowing the chairman," Potter said of the £42 million fee.

"It's not for me to talk about. It is what it is.

Asked if Caicedo would cost around £100 million, Potter added: "Yeah, well, they can try.

"Well, it doesn't surprise me that people are looking at him because he is playing at a fantastic level," Potter added. "And as soon as you do research on him, you realise he is a top kid, great person, young, playing in the Premier League, has all the attributes to play at the very, very highest level.

"So, no surprise, but we know the position he is in, and we know the position the club are in, which is we don't want to lose him, and we don't think we will. But in football, you never know. That is how it is, but we are quite calm and confident."
