Double boost as Firmino and one other spotted in training ahead of United clash

Liverpool have continued their preparations for the Premier League clash against Manchester United on Monday

Liverpool will look to register their first Premier League win of the season when they make the short journey down the East Lancs Road to take on Manchester United on Monday.

The Reds travel to their bitter North West rivals having drawn their opening two top-flight matches. Jurgen Klopp put his players through their paces at Kirkby on Thursday afternoon as they continue their preparations for the trip to Old Trafford.

Among the many Liverpool players missing against Crystal Palace on Monday, the absence of Roberto Firmino was perhaps most keenly felt given the way the match panned out.

But having sat out as a precaution following a muscle complaint, Firmino was fully involved in the latest training under the watchful gaze of Klopp.

Darwin Nunez was also included as he continues to adapt to his new team-mates despite being suspended for the next three games following his red card against Palace.

Klopp confirmed on Monday he expects to be without Joel Matip for a fortnight after the defender suffered a groin strain, so it was a surprise to see the Cameroonian snapped at Kirkby.

However, Matip wasn't pictured taking part in any ball work. And Nat Phillips, the player who replaced him against Palace, was also not involved, instead seen running around the perimeter of the pitch with assistant fitness coach Jordan Fairclough.
