WSL: Matt Beard issues warning to Chelsea

Liverpool Women's boss Matt Beard has sent a warning to his former side Chelsea ahead of Sunday clash

Matt Beard | Liverpool Women celebrate Championship title

The Reds' Ladies won last season's Women's FA title by 11 points margin and former Beard believes his players are excited about the Prenton Park match against the Londoners and the season ahead.

Chelsea women were due to start their season against West Ham at Stamford Bridge last weekend, but with the opening day programme postponed following the Queen's death, they will now face newly-promoted Liverpool on Sunday.

“I’d ask the fans to be patient because I think we’ve really invested in the future of these players," Beard said.

“I think there was naturally going to be a fair-sized turnover at some point when you look at the nature of the group that left.

“For the supporters – we’re on the case. We are really trying to be the best version of ourselves."
