Brighton star Leandro Trossard has explained the motivation behind his performance against Liverpool after his latest hat-trick.

The Reds lost two more points in the Premier League after  a 3-3 draw with Brighton. Roberto Firmino scored twice and Adam Webster's own goal gave Jurgen  Klopp's men their third but couldn't keep to the lead.

Trossard now has five goals in seven games against Liverpool. He also scored against the Reds in last season's 2-2 draw at Anfield.

After the game, Trossard hinted it was a lucky day for Liverpool as the Reds narrowly escaped with a point and not conceding more goals.

“Maybe in one way, but we could have scored more and maybe the draw is quite fair.

“But you always want more, especially if you are 2-0 up. At the end we should be happy with a point, and it was a great performance from us.”

On his hat trick performance, the Brighton forward said: “Obviously it’s a big game and you always want to show yourself in the best possible way.

“Hopefully I can carry this form on, but I’m happy with the team after we reacted brilliantly after we went 3-2 down and it’s up to them as well.”

“It’s always nice if you can score three, especially at Anfield. It’s a shame we couldn’t get the three points, but we are still happy with a point.

“At Anfield it’s always a tough game against a superb team.”
