The France international told Onze Mondial that he had spoken to Klopp before switching from RB Leipzig to Liverpool.
Konate apparently found Klopp a bit dramatic, as he admits he thought he was being flattered by the 55-year-old during the conversation.
The Liverpool centre-back said: "I remember talking to the coach on the phone before I signed. He said to me 'From the day you joined Liverpool, it will never be the same for you, your life will be Change'.
"Wherever you travel in the world, you'll see what I'm telling you. In my head, I'm like, 'Okay, okay, this is an amazing club with a long history, but it's cool '. I traveled a lot, was in Zanzibar this summer and took at least 50 pictures a day. Then his sentence came back to me. I thought: This is crazy."
