Didi Hamann has spoken out on Jurgen Klopp's future and what Liverpool need in the transfer market
Didi Hammann has suggested Jurgen Klopp is no longer interested in managing Liverpool as the German's side struggles on the pitch continue.
Liverpool's Premier League title hopes this season, have long since been dashed as the Reds sit eighth in the table, seven points off the top four.
They have now been eliminated from two domestic cup competitions and have all but disappeared from the Champions League after losing 5-2 at home to Real Madrid in their last-16 first-leg tie at Anfield in midweek.
With an aging squad in constant flux, the summer transfer window will be a busy one for the Merseyside club, with at least a revamp in midfield on the horizon.
Former Reds midfielder Hamann wants his former club to sign Declan Rice from West Ham, but is not convinced FSG will be willing to authorize the required operation.
"Liverpool is completely exhausted physically and mentally,” Hamann told Sky Germany.
“This team urgently needs new players for big money. I don't know if the owners are willing to do that and if not.
“They're pretty good up front, but midfield and defence need freshening up. I would absolutely buy Declan Rice from West Ham in their place.
“I don't know if the coach is still interested, because they can only be competitive with a very large investment. In the last transfer periods they have held back, but this can't go on. At least not successfully.
“Whether he still wants to stay is probably only decided by Klopp alone. Don't forget where the Reds were before he came along and what has happened since. Titles, reputation in Europe and the way of playing football have been in other spheres since then.”
